no doctor in his right mind whose patient just went into premature labor would say..ok, sure ..take the 8 hr flight back home. No matter how minor the contractions are..so I dont buy that she felt comfortable cos she's had 4 kids b4. Its like a new xperience each time. I hurt from menstrual cramps alone...and i experience it monthly..yet it feels like the first time every month..the pain doesnt get better!!! |

I didn't show for most of my pregnancy due to low amniotic fluid. I also walked around in labor for three days before going into active labor. Not every woman looks like she swallowed a beach ball when pregnant. So this video doesn't prove a thing. |

i dont believe this much at all. she already dropped 4 before this 1. not surprised she didnt panic and run to the hospital. 7 months pregnant would surely show though, so id like to see some actual photos of her around that time. on the other hand, men over 40 are much more likely to sire a down syndrome baby. |

Very well done reporting. What facts you have found on Bristol's school absence? This all reeks to high heaven. Getting on a plane in premature labor with broken water - my left foot! I wonder if there will be a statement by the Palin family very soon that Bristol has miscarried. Bristol now appears to be carrying a little fat padding left over from pregnancy maybe? She looks well rounded enough also to be nursing a child. Can Trig's downs syndrome happen to such a young mother? |

I would also like to add that labor almost always gets shorter with subsequent pregnancies. So if Trig was Palin's fifth, she could very well have been giving birth by the end of that speech. |

Actually your water does not break during early labor normally. If it does, that's called premature rupture of membranes. No doctor would EVER tell her to keep going if that happened. Because of the risk of infection and stillbirth, this is an immediate indication for induction or augmentation of contractions to get the baby out. This supports your theory since Gov Palin wouldn't know that but a doctor (or me a med student) would. |

I know this is already refuted by Ampersand himself, but I still have three comments:
1) body shapes/weight gain can be very variable between different pregnancies even for the same woman
2) there are different stages of labour - her first slow labour pangs mentioned observed in Texas were very different from "active" (hard) labour
3) women CAN be back at work 3 days later, esp if it was a month early and therefore small AND it's a woman's 5th child. |
